Living Next Door To Alice Lyrics
She said "I suppose you've heard
About Alice."
So, I rushed to the window, and I looked outside,
And I could hardly believe my eyes,
This big limousine pulled slowly into Alice's drive.
I don't know why she's leaving, or where she's gonna go,
I guess she's got her reasons but I just don't want to know,
'Cause for 24 years I've been living next door to Alice.
24 years, just waitin' for a chance,
To tell her how I'm feeling, maybe get a second glance,
Now I've gotta get used to not living next door to Alice.
Carved our initials deep in the bark
Me and Alice.
Now she walks to the door, with her head held high,
Just for a moment, I caught her eye,
As the big limousine pulled slowly out of Alice's drive.
I guess she's got her reasons but I just don't want to know,
'Cause for 24 years I've been living next door to Alice.
24 years, just waitin' for a chance,
To tell her how I'm feeling, maybe get a second glance,
Now I've gotta get used to not living next door to Alice.
She said "I know how to help
You get over Alice."
She said "Now Alice is gone, but I'm still here
You know I've been waiting 24 years."
And the big limousine disappeared.
I guess she's got her reasons but I just don't want to know,
'Cause for 24 years I've been living next door to Alice.
24 years, just waitin' for a chance,
To tell her how I'm feeling, maybe get a second glance,
Now I've gotta get used to not living next door to Alice.
Woah sad love triangle -
Guy likes Alice, and I think Alice likes Guy but I'm sure she never made a move because she knew how Sally felt. Finally after 24 years of unspoken anguish, Alice decides to break the triangle and force Sally into confessing her feelings for Guy.
I really feel sorry for Sally.... I hate Guy a lil XD

dude the "who the fuck is alice" ruins the original song which is amazing

He's been living next door to the girl for 24 years and he still hasn't made a move? how are you meant to feel sorry for him?
@toddles18184 Totally agree! What a limp-wristed waste of space and oxygen. No wonder Alice hit the road.

This is a great song if you havent heard it buy it if you cant find it download it if you cant do that cause the goverment is watching you.your a jackass! :D
A band called Gompie did the "Who the fuck is Alice" version of it in '95, and it was a majot hit.. and whenever it was played everybody screamed "Who the fuck is Alice" like the people in the song screamed it. I miss the 90's.
ALICE ALICE WHO THE FUCK IS ALICE! Oh yeah, we had a live band perform this to a packed crowd of 2000 ,with free flow of beer, and everyone were standing on their tables and shouting WHO THE FUCK IS ALICE!
Hmm I always thought Alice had killed herself and the Limo was the funeral car, guess it could be a wedding car but lyrics suggest funeral. Guess she had her reasons but I just for want to know.
@Had2comment haha just realised she,'s not dead....sorry

@Had2comment - Hey, I thought the same about the funeral car. It fits to the strange and nostalgic mood of the song... I never thought about a wedding car. It makes no sense, if it was a wedding car, then the guy would not have to ask about Alice's reasons, right? First I imagined, was a moving company car for all her stuff. Then the idea of funeral car came... but it also makes no sense because "she" leaves with her head up, it must be Alice. So she is just and really leaving. But your imagination is really not...

One of my favourites too. I like lyrics with a story. I don't usually think it's necessary to pull them apart like a novel at a book club, sometimes it's just about escapism and reading what you like into it.
However, I'm glad the earlier poster realised that Alice couldn't be dead as she walked out head held high, lol.
As for no sympathy for someone who hasn't 'made a move' in 24 years. I'm guessing that if you grew up as children and became friends it is hard to risk that in case she doesn't feel the same and you lose the friendship as well.
Ok, so that's enough psychoanalysing ;o) let's just enjoy the song.
Finally to Chubby Brown and all you other infantile idiots who are probably still sniggering at 'rude words' - GROW UP!
Lots of memories of daze and nights with this song playing... mostly good even though this song appears at first glance to be about unrequited love from the viewpoint of a shy man (or woman?). Somethings are a bit odd here though. 24 years? So how old are these people now? 30 plus? Limo on the drive? Not in the street, hearses likely don't park on your drive so that one is out. A cop car then which goes with "head held high" maybe? Carved our names on the bark, naughty naughty disfiguring nature but we used to and it was usually initials... FJ L SR for example for all the world to see forever. Like tattoos not a good idea after you have fallen out or in this context left town... It is a sad thing that some of us for our own private reasons either cannot or will not declare our feelings for another but what a shame women's intuition did not see this guy's interest in time. Maybe she went off with another man before he could make his move... procrastination is the worst vice!
