Do You Love? Lyrics

Child, it's broke
And I feel you slipping away
Child, you spoke
And the world fell silent again
Do you love
Do you need love
Child, undone
By fear of falling through cracks
Child, by one mistake, you've lost your way back

(Something's gotta turn you round)

Do you love
Do you need love
When your angels shout
Is your heart strung out

Do you love
Do you need love
When your angels fall
Have you lost it all

Child be still
In the storm to wave us goodbye
Child we will
Return to dance with the sky

(Something's gotta turn you round)

Do you love
Do you need love
When your angels shout
Is your heart strung out

Do you love
Do you need love
When your angels cry
Does your spirit die

What incredible emotion Natalie Imbruglia puts into this song! It's definitely one of my favorites...I'm not quite sure (obviously), but it seems to me that it's about a young child who was abused in some way (either emotionally or physically, or maybe both), and she's wondering if this child is still able to love...and if he can still accept love from others.

well, i am not sure what it really means, but to me it sounds like it could be about a child who's paretns fight a lot. The line "when your angels shout..." kind of makes me think that. and the whole thing about needing love and about loving.....if all you've grown up with is fighting parents, it may ba harrd to let yourself love.

wow....i totally see parents who fight a lot and the child maybe thinks its there fault

Child, it's broke (the relationship of parents) And I feel you slipping away (feels like no one wants child) Child, you spoke And the world fell silent again (the child saying something caused fights) Do you love Do you need love (from parents) Child, undone By fear of falling through cracks Child, by one mistake, you've lost your way back (messing up and the child ruined the relationship)

Do you love Do you need love When your angels shout (parents ideal fighting) Is your heart strung out

anyways....it could be interpretted many many ways....i dunno though.....

excellant song

For comparison:

"Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun. Shine on you crazy diamond. Now there's a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky. Shine on you crazy diamond." -Pink Floyd, Shine On You Crazy Diamond

wow am just getting into Natalie. i agree sounds like someone whos been hurt and hurting, but also sounds like it has a hint of hope. 'something's gotta turn you round', being something will come to offer love and fill that gap. just how i see it >.> i like song ALOT (. . )

Nice comments, but I read that this song was inspired when her niece fell from a window
