Oh please don't go out on me don't go out on me now
Never acted up before don't go on me now
I swear I never took it for granted just thought of it now
Suppose I abused you just passing it on
Go, fuck
Once fastened servile now your getting sharp
Moving oh so swiftly with such disarm
I pulled the covers over him shoulda' pulled the alarm
Turned to my nemesis a fool no fucking god
Jump, turn, search, burn,
Don't go on me
Please
Search, uh, touch
Please, turn on the picture
Tuck, turn, see,
Please, please, please,
Don't go on me
Please, Don't you want me, don't go on me,
Please, don't go on me
Never acted up before don't go on me now
I swear I never took it for granted just thought of it now
Suppose I abused you just passing it on
Go, fuck
Moving oh so swiftly with such disarm
I pulled the covers over him shoulda' pulled the alarm
Turned to my nemesis a fool no fucking god
Jump, turn, search, burn,
Don't go on me
Please
Please, turn on the picture
Tuck, turn, see,
Please, please, please,
Don't go on me
Please, don't go on me

Eddie primarily wrote this song about his pickup truck, obviously, but I think we all know that it has a much more serious meaning, too. If I'm not mistaken, as a child, Vedder was sexually abused by his mother, and verbally by his step father, who he always thought was his father...and I think this has a lot to do with that, or just abuse in general, following one of the most prominent topics in Vs...but nobody really knows for sure. Don't be too hard on my take on it- I'm just a stupid teenager. At least I'm listening to this instead of Lil Wayne or something. Eddie's childhood has to do with a LOT of Pearl Jam's songs, which is why I think their songs are so meaningful and profound, to me, anyway. You can seriously feel the emotion, and I can't tell you how many times their songs have given me chills or make me cry. Brilliant band, my favorite. No other band that I've listened to has had songs that make me think as much as Pearl Jam's do, so kudos to them.
Only Eddie Vedder could write a song about his truck and make it kick ass...
I always thought that this was about abuse. Maybe about a parent taken their anger on their kid. But the kid tells the parent not to do it. Idk but it means something to me in a way.
It doesn't mean they're not a true fan, just that they think the song is about something else,... like you know, by having an opinion?
I'm not tryin to cut anyone down,... because you all rule for liking the greatest band on earth,...
I think the song IS about the truck,... The suck,... blood line could be an allusion to gasoline, and
honestly, who hasn't gotten so attached to their car that they consider it a conscious entity? I am extremely guilty of that crime,...
by asking the truck if it wants him, to not go on him, he's asking it if it wants to make him disappointed,...
I mean the song can be paralelled to so many meanings, but I agree with the truck one, because it just kinda fits,... Go was a song that just kind of Came together,... seriously,.. I mena the drummer wrote the guitar,....
but what ever it is ,... just remember it's an asskicking song,..
opinions hmmmmmhmmmmmm ;)
i find it funny that its about eddies truck, its the sort of thing he would write. although once he said that the song black was about nothing at all, so just because it has been said its about his truck somewhere doesnt make it true
but on some level, it doesnt even matter. the beauty of pearl jam is the ambiguity of their lyrics, and how they can be interpreted by individuals. any meaning is perfect in its own way
in a 1994 atlanta show, at the start of go, it sounds like eddie says 'this is for kurt'
and im pretty sure he has said before that some of his songs take on different meanings after they have been written
so whatever you reckon, its got something to it
and a 'true' pearl jam fan is someone who can appreciate the lyrics and make meaning for themselves, not someone who swallows everything they hear and repeats it
i fucking love you
i fucking love you
The song is about eddies truck, and the time it crapped out on him.
trucks? abuse? suicide? i dont care anymore, who the fuck cares? all i know is that i listen to everyday t least 5 times.
Whoa so no one's said what they think of this song? Well, I'm not gonna say what I think it means... but I'll say that I love this song. This whole album is really really good.
Well i must totally agree with Emo. This, i believe, is the best Pearl Jam song and the album rocks. Every song is just a must to listen to. The intro on the album version is excellent, it is the perfect start to a song, or an album. The songs off the album all have great intros.
think this one's about how often abused children grow up to be abusers. i could be wrong. And hell yeah, VS rocks!!!
