Saturday's Cab Ride Home Lyrics

Consider the situation, i'm in denial of this, in nine years disease will kill me, let her destroy the beauty, I don't remember you, just the things you did, you don't remember me, just what you had to do, i'll take the cab home and leave my heart in the backseat, to become a statistic in a magazine, in nine years disease will kill me, i don't want this memory, i don't need this memory.

this song is about after Tom was a teenager and sexually promiscuous. He was terrified of getting tested and finding out he had AIDS or any other STD. He eventually did though and turned up clean.

That night, huddled in that cab, we put the whole world behind us.I didn't know what would happen when I got home. It didn't matter. I wanted to stay there, in that night. More than anything I'd wanted before. But I knew I couldn't. I was fifteen. I slept under a roof my father owned, in a bed my father bought. Nothing was mine. Except my heart. And my fears. And my growing knowledge...that not every road was going to lead home, anymore.
