Eyesight To The Blind Lyrics
You don't know me, and you never hold me
like your little piece on the side.
My mother told me, that you're never lonely
when you're laughing all the time.
Inside out and outside in
you bring eyesight to the blind.
Crying is a crime.
Slowing down the metronome
slowing down.
Slowing down the metronome
slowing down.
You don't know me, and you never hold me
like your little boy in blue.
My father told me, that you're always lonely
when they're all laughing at you.
Inside out and outside in
you bring Jesus to the Jew.
Slowing down the metronome
slowing down.

Reading the lyrics it sounds like someone wanting to be loved by this person that sounds like a parental figure. The person in question is described as being almost saint like ("you bring eye sight to the blind")
Saint like? I believe the subject of the song is potrayed as GOD-like. "You bring Jesus to the Jew"... see? Another work of genius.
to me its about how you feel really lonely and when you finally tell someone they see no reason for you to be. because your laughing and having fun
" my mother told me, your never lonely, when your laughing all the time"
because of this your laughing all the time and trying to have fun to hide the loneliness. you have always felt lonley because your parents weret especially affectionate and you dont have that person in your life that makes you feel loved. part of me thinks that here, although he knows someone that hes totally fallen for that could chase all the loneliness away its not reciprocated. they never hold him they never make him feel better in that way.......... but he knows they could give eyesight to the blind, because they are simply that fantastic.
giving eyesight to the blind is one of the miricles perform by jesus wasnt it? you bring jesus to the jew.......another biblical reference. jesus was a miricle worker....and this person that he has fallen for if they were together it would work miricles on him,
I actually think that this is about someonewho cheated on their partner, and the partner who was blind, is given eyesight to see the betrayal of the person that they loved.
I think the parental references have something to do with the fact that your parents try and teach you what people are like, and how things can go wrong in relationships. I also guess that the narrator feels isolated because everyone knew his/her partner was cheating on them and no one told him. 'My father told me, that you're always lonely when they're all laughing at you.'
To me it seems simple. Who ever is singing the song (brian
for me, it's when someone feels out of place in a family and less important compared to a sibling eyesight to the blind- to achieve something pretty spectacular, he's too much for the family maybe? sad song, brilliant though
'you're never lonely, when you're laughing all the time' - faking confidence, happiness etc, to the naked eye he's pretty happy, but he's not
or he could be saying that to his sibling, and feels kinda jealous how this guy who is all happy is bringing his parents happiness, eyesight to the blind, whereas he doesn't himself
