Looking Down Lyrics
I'm looking down now
Shadows touch the top of the trees
Who we are we've never known
Maybe we were meant for something better
Than what we could see
Could we be the best?
We'll stand on top of the world
Looking down
Falling into one more dream
Doubt will only bring you down
But it seems as though
Our shadows know
Just what we'll become
Could we be the best?
Shadows touch the top of the trees
Who we are we've never known
Maybe we were meant for something better
Than what we could see
Could we be the best?
We'll stand on top of the world
Looking down
Falling into one more dream
Doubt will only bring you down
But it seems as though
Our shadows know
Just what we'll become
Could we be the best?

lol.. umm i think that its just about ceing free and independent.. just doing what you wanna do
I must have a different version of this song..
"Yeah My shadow stretches far and free Yeah It's telling me what I could be Could be Cause I'm tired Of looking up All the time We'll stand on top of the world Looking down We'll stand on top of the world Looking down Yeah We'll set ourselves apart in time Yeah And then we'll leave it all behind I'll rise Cause I'm tired Of looking out For the line We'll stand on top of the world Looking down We'll stand on top of the world Looking down We'll stand on top of the world Yeah Is anybody here like me? Yeah Can you face the sound And decide? We'll stand on top of the world Looking down We'll stand on top of the world Looking down We'll stand on top of the world Looking down To rise above on our own Looking down"
rising above.
I heared (on this Incubus part of this site) that Incubus used to go get high on the hills of calabass, science Jason Boyd and Ben Einzinger are the little brothers of Incubus, mabye they went to these hills and got high,"on top of the world, looking down" could be referring to being on the hill or just being high "falling into one more dream" is most likely a high reference "doubt will only bring you down" is a true statement if they're talking about being high, when you are high, and you don't think you are,it can sober you up or,"bring you down" ...mabye I'm just a stupid stoner who thinks everything is about pot
i heard jason boyd said this song was about not being known as the little brothers of incubus.. they want to be known as themselves for their music and nothing more.. i cant really break down the song for you to understand that because im not really good at explaining things but listen to it.. read it.. it will make sense..
Another song, "Looking Down," is a triumphant cut that blends echoey guitars and restrained vocals with more agitated tones, and features the chorus, "We'll stand on top of the world looking down."
"That one kind of has to do with the whole Incubus thing," Boyd said. "It's about how we are gonna set ourselves apart in time and we're gonna make it. We're gonna do what we set out to do from the very beginning. It's kind of our inspiration song as a band."................ i was just going through articles and came across something in this one... how convinient :-)
i forgot to say that i guess the song wasnt intended to be about that since it was written before incubus had any fame.. and its not actually about that situation but it just reminds him and motivates him.... hm well im sure uve already figured that out by now.. i talk to much.. later
i've heard this song is about 'the whole incubus thing', which makes sense, basically it's about how they don't want to be continually compared to their brothers, they want to make a name for themselves on their own, however the line "can you face the sound and decide" kinda annoys me because, well, why can't you like both bands? why do i have to decide? i love incubus AND audiovent!
this song is about self
I love when songs can be interprated like 12 different ways, but I also agree this is about. And like youarestellar said, I think it has to do with the whole competing with Incubus/ sibling rivalry.
