Bigmouth Strikes Again (The Smiths cover) Lyrics
Sweetness
Sweetness I was only joking when I said
I'd like to smash every tooth in your head
Oh, sweetness
Sweetness I was only joking when I said
By rights you should be bludgeoned in your bed
And now I know how Joan of Arc felt
Now I know how Joan of Arc felt
As the flames rose to her Roman nose
And her Discman started to melt
Bigmouth, la da dum da da
Bigmouth, la da da da
Bigmouth strikes again
And I've got no right to take my place
In the human race
Oh, Bigmouth, la da dum da da
Bigmouth, la da da da
Bigmouth strikes again
And I've got no right to take my place
In the human race
And now I know how Joan of Arc felt
Now I know how Joan of Arc felt
As the flames rose to her Roman nose
And her Megadrive started to melt
Bigmouth, la da dum da da
Bigmouth, la da da da
Bigmouth strikes again
And I've got no right to take my place
In the human race
Oh, Bigmouth, la da dum da da
Bigmouth, la da da da
Bigmouth strikes again
And I've got no right to take my place
In the human race
Sweetness I was only joking when I said
I'd like to smash every tooth in your head
Oh, sweetness
Sweetness I was only joking when I said

Now I know how Joan of Arc felt

Morrissey is a god. It's a great cover... but... Nothing can everrr ever ever EVER beat Morrissey EVER. (ever)
Morrissey rulez!!!
This version is pretty cool too tho...
I love Placebo, but this cover can't compare. The Smiths were too brilliant to be properly covered.
i think that yea, the smiths was cool, but placebo sung this in a completely different way, they wern't trying to sing it like the smiths, they did it a different way. i think they changed the words from "hearing aid started to melt" in the smiths, to "discman started to melt" in this one, in a way to illistrate how things have changed and technology has developed.
Morrissey did say 'walkman started to melt' in the original. You can't compare any Smiths cover to the original to be quiet honest! I do like a few of the covers, but I could never say any of them could beat the brilliance that was the Smiths - and this isn't even the Smiths best song.
if you would care to read properly what raccoon said it was
"i think they changed the words from "hearing aid started to melt" in the smiths, to "discman started to melt" in this one, in a way to illistrate how things have changed and technology has developed."
In which saying placebo changed the lyrics from the other version. And can people decide whether it was the smiths or Morrissey!
Which Placebo CD was this on?
It was The Smiths.
It's an odd one to cover I think, because the lyrics were so close to Morrisey's expereiences with the press and his own image.
but I agree that the way Placebo have covered it has made a difference in the meaning, because it's not so personal to Morrisey anymore, AND because they 'futured up' the lyrics.
Still, gotta love that guitar in there.
francesengland: this song was on the special edition double cd of sleeping with ghosts with the covers cd. although u mighta pirated it from napster, etc b4 hand ...
I do prefer this to the original.. it's more... I dunno more something. (woOp intelligent comment there)
