Fame Throwa Lyrics

Sha la la...

Fame throwa pass out the gold
The diamond watch, the last reward
All the things we hid before you sold us out and took it all
Head-borne cries from zenith sluts
Astral rites from dead-end ruts

And these ends are sick and wise
These ends were sick and wise

He's one of our nation's spies
He's one of our first recruits
I click with her leather thighs
He's one of our first recruits

Sha la la..

How can you know?
In the distance lies a grower, nee Rudolph, king fame throwa
Son of groupie, bed-worn Saxon
Spent his cash convincing us
That the desert was a starscape
Took our lives for a set of lies
So we could cry:

"Naked, naked foul"

i'm not entirely sure it's more than stream of consciousness...

'spent his cash convincing us this desert was a starscape' is a great line though. sounds like it means something.

my favourite pavement song i've head so far

This sounds like it's about the band being courted by major labels or whoever, record industry sleezeballs, just before they were about to blow up. When all the little E.P.s and singles were coming out, Pavement was so much "the next big thing" buzz band.

"naked, naked, foullllllll"

love that. this song is great.

i would second juvenilecokefiend on that line... it's so rich. has me thinking of deep blues and golds. they always used to do the 'naked, naked...foul' bit really stupidly when they were touring 'slanted'...

the live version is oodles better.

'spent his cash convincing us this desert was a starscape' A record label or similar figure trying to make them sell their sound out for a more mainstream one. A desert is generally regarded as being barren, a shitty place to be. A starscape, distant, amazing, etc.
