This song is about attachment. "The way i feel was promised by your face", indicates an emotional holding where one's feelings depend on the presence of another. This is how for the writer, "Even though your not with me I'm with you" because although physically the "your face" has moved on, the "how I feel" still remains.

Surrounding the chorus are complexities that come as a result of the end of the assumed relationship. Again as with the chorus these parts seem to be emotional related. Firstly in the first verse "Waking up in a dream" and "Pretending to be where I'm not anymore" suggest that in or outside his imagination the perpetrator is confused as to where he exactly is emotionally. This relates to the condradiction expressed in the 2nd verse where "When things go wrong i pretend the past isn't real" however, "I'm trapped in this memory". These issues flow from the overall theme of the song - even though your not with me (physically) I am with you (emotionally).

It’s about a relationship, any relationship, not necessarily romantic, and one person seems stuck in the past. Their memories are still so vivid of the past and of his mistakes in the past so much so it still feels like he’s either still with the other person however the other person has either moved on or probably doesn’t give him a second thought much less the obsession that the other person is still giving. Also, I just wanted to add the line “I hit you and you hit me back” doesn’t necessarily mean that it was a physical fight, it could be that it was just an argument and the word “hit” meaning the words back and forth that each of them spoke to each other. And in fact they have this argument or fight for so long they both get very tired from it. (Either one fight or even a good part of the relationship was nothing but fights). He’s left with the memory of his mistakes in the relationship and “slow to react” meaning he didn’t take responsibility for his part at the time. And the other person he still feels so close to -or wants to be- but the other person is keeping their distance and has moved on from them. Still, he is obsessed with that person and their memory haunts them and he sees them “even when I close my eyes” meaning he can not forget this person no matter what he does. “No matter how far we’ve come, I can’t wait to see tomorrow”, I take that to mean that even though they’ve grown far apart, he’s still hoping that one day they’ll reconnect. This is just a very simple explanation, as I was just asked by my 10-year old daughter what this song meant after it had just played. Re-reading the lyrics to her then explaining it so she would understand really just put it in a simple perspective. Great song, too.

this songs plays my heart strings, because it reminds me of someone that i'm very close too. no matter how close i think i am to them, there's still a distance between us. but at times, when we're apart, i can still feel him. i think it's about not expressing your feelings and that fucks everything up

I like someone but I'm too slow to do anything about it. It feels strange that fate plays with you like sometimes I hear her saying words I used before when she was near by. For example, I said something two years ago for no reason when she was near and she said the exact samething the other day. It was even the same place exept the positions we were standing at was reversed. Sometimes I feel there's a fate between the me and her but everone around me keeps discouraging me and drawing me away from her. Someone I trusted pulled me away from the best chance I had. She was looking nervous, I don't know why but my companion had to pull me away saying I was there to do something else. As I walked away, she seemed upset and angry. I don't know what to do and am still in a fix. Anyone who reads this, maybe post something I could do or pray that something good does happen between me and her.

Most when looking at Lp lyrics, automatically relatwe it to a relationship. Though different songs mean different things to different people at different times, this is what this song could mean to me. I see it as someone close to the guy has died. I know he was there when the person died, but not sure weather or not to say he killed this person or if he saw someone kill this person. I do know that he seems to have been shot/stabbed or whatvever happened, and too late to stop the person from shooting/stabbing the one so close to him. And then he woke up in a hospital, cold feet on the floor, trying to forget about yesterday's events. Now, the memories are all flooding back I'm guessing a year later on that same day. OR, what could have happened, was dude got into a fight with his lady and accidently killed her. And the cold feet on the floor would be prison. But fact of the matter, either way. the memory is haunting him and he can't shake it. The face, voice, and all he knew about this person is trapped in a memory. He sees this person all the time, walking down the street or whatnot. But it always turns out just to be in his mind. Like it says, even though this prson is so close to him, he can't bring them back. Even if they're not with him, he's with them. And he blames himself for this.
