Human Fates Lyrics
A man on the corner with glassy look
Telling a story of his lifetime
A thousand times told, desperate verse
But never listened
Another on by the bar talking to a barmaid
Has spent his whole life there
A naively trusting man never faced life
Or has just found Eldorado
Life is nothing but a gift...
[Chorus:]
Poor human fates
Pure human fakes
No human rights
The underrated
The third one by the table never said a word
Gazing into the distance
The observer, melancholic man
Just drinking heavily
Not very old but still a veteran
Has lost his thread of life
In god-forsaken place they are the family
And they are at home
Life is nothing but a gift...
[Chorus:]
Use of education is not complete solution
Now it is time to look in the mirror
[Chorus:]
Telling a story of his lifetime
A thousand times told, desperate verse
But never listened
Has spent his whole life there
A naively trusting man never faced life
Or has just found Eldorado
Life is nothing but a gift...
Poor human fates
Pure human fakes
No human rights
The underrated
Gazing into the distance
The observer, melancholic man
Just drinking heavily
Has lost his thread of life
In god-forsaken place they are the family
And they are at home
Life is nothing but a gift...
Now it is time to look in the mirror

about different drunks at the same bar im guessing. Basically he's saying that life is nothing but a gift and these people are wasting it.

The ballad of a group of people who have wasted their lives away...and they don't care ("in god-forsaken place, they are the family, and they are at home.")
The "use of education" line is interresting. It feels out of place...anyone have any idea as to the meaning of this line?
All in all, a beautiful song: one of my favorites. Good imagery, and great use of the 6/8 feel time signature.
Also, anyone have any idea of what's said in that slow, whispery part, just before the "use of education" bit?
I think that the "Use of education" bit is about how we shouldn't rely completely on education for teaching people about the dangers of addiction (in this case alcohol) and how you can waste your life away at its hands. "Now it is time to look in the mirror" I feel means that we should, not so much look at ourselves personally, unless you are an alcoholic, but ourselves and those around us. We need to look at people in general and see that addiction is dangerous, not rely on other people telling us.
you have to look at the education lines as a whole "Use of education is not complete solution Now it is time to look in the mirror" obviously you can only learn so much from education. when you take in education, you're learning from someone else. the drinkers are turning to alcohol to find themselves (or escape their teachers). these lines are saying FIND YOURSELF and stop only listening to others (look in the mirror)
the song is generally about people still not knowing what they want to do with their life. no support for their dreams. always told, never telling.
