i think this is about falling in love and being unsure about it...and being blinded by a blissful feeling that all will be well in the world with another person there to hold your hand
this song is actually about getting to heaven by jesus. "I cant save myself" alludes to the fact that you cant get to heaven by any good deeds that you do on earth, but that you have to accept jesus christ as your savior, and put your full trust in him, to get to heaven.
