(Crazy For You But) Not That Crazy Lyrics
I built a ship with my own hands
To take us to the moon
I took a pen in my own hand
And wrote you a hundred tunes
Now I'm crazy for you
But not that crazy
I pretended you were Jesus
You were just dying to save me
I stood beneath your window
With my ukulele
I made my yard a playground
Just in case we had a baby
Now I'm crazy for you
But not that crazy
I treated you like radium
I treated you like God
You were my glass menagerie
Did you not find that odd?
I dwelt within
And went without
And broke my virgin flesh
I performed acts of devotion
As if you were Ganesh, but
Now I'm crazy for you
But not that crazy
I'm crazy for you
But not that crazy
To take us to the moon
I took a pen in my own hand
And wrote you a hundred tunes
But not that crazy
You were just dying to save me
I stood beneath your window
With my ukulele
I made my yard a playground
Just in case we had a baby
But not that crazy
I treated you like God
You were my glass menagerie
Did you not find that odd?
I dwelt within
And went without
And broke my virgin flesh
I performed acts of devotion
As if you were Ganesh, but
But not that crazy
I'm crazy for you
But not that crazy

I adore tMF, and it's for lines like this that I do.
I'm pretty sure its obvious this song is about being madly in love with someone... emphasis on the madly.
So much so that you devote so much time and effort into showing them appreciation, buying/making them gifts, or even just thinking about them.. I find myself in a similar situation right now
It might seem a little off putting to the other person hence the "Crazy for you... but not that crazy" trying to reaffirm that its just the love he feels is so deep that he's acting in what might seem an abnormal way but still considers himself "normal" but obviously the hyperboles in the lyrics make it a tad bit to believe.
Then again who can blame him?
in my opinion, this song is the story of someone falling out of obsession with the person they\'re with. they loved this person so strongly that they were being a bit intense with it but then they started feeling less strongly for them.\n\nthey talk about all the things they did for their s/o and then go on to say theyre still crazy for them, just not as crazy as they were being before. \n\nthey still love their partner, theyre just not obsessing over it anymore.\n\neither that or its someone falling out of love completely with their s/o.\n\nthey used to love them intensely but now they just dont anymore.\n\n(also this is 100% me projecting but it also kinda feels like coming to your senses after being in a toxic relationship. \n\nfeeling dependent on this person and yet also comparing them to something you dont want to be around, "i treated you like radium, i treated you like god. you were my glass menagerie, did you not find that odd?" \n\n"i dwelt within and went without, and pieced my virgin flesh" reminds me of how in toxic relationships you tend to bottle your emotions inside and go without the comfort you need, sometimes taking it out on yourself in dangerous ways.\n\n"now im crazy for you but not that crazy" finally realizing theyre crazy and even though you still feel like you love them you\'re also not crazy enough to stay with them.)\n\nthis was long, sorry lol. i love this song
LOVE.
"and broke my virgin flesh I performed acts of devotion as if you were Ganesh, but now I'm crazy for you but not that crazy I'm crazy for you but not that crazy"
amazing
I pretended you were Jesus, You were just dying to save me
!!! LOVE !!!
I say that all the time.
Pretty straightforward, like "I Don't Really Love You Anymore" this song is completely sarcastic and there's no bound to the craziness this person feels towards the other.
I treated him like Radium. I always wonder if he found that odd. Crazy. Crazy. Crazy.
I like the line about the ukelele.. It's adorable. :]
this song won my heart over with the glass menagerie reference
