Some accounts have the author describing this song as being about the Vietnam war. I understand there's a site in Hanoi sometimes known as the Temple of Love, which could support the theory.
One of the best songs from them in my opinion.
I think this song is made to be about just about anything, most obviously about the Vietnam War, and also about Love. Probably a lot more too.
I'm pretty sure that this song is a SCATHING curse to a woman who's in love with another man. He's cursing her to be haunted by him until the relationship with the other man is destroyed. It's evil and brilliant.
