Olympia, WA Lyrics

Hangin' out with Lars on 6th street
He knew that I was in trouble
I was feeling much like the devil
There was something burnin' deep inside of me
Ran into three Puerto Ricans
These girls took us to the funhouse
Where we played a lonely pinball machine

Hangin' on the corner of 52nd and Broadway
Cars passin' by but none of them seem to be goin' my way
New York City, well I wish I was on a highway
Back to Olympia...

I'm having a hard time understanding
It gets all too demanding
She's all gone and I'm stranded
Something burning deep inside of me
All I know it's 4'o'clock and
She ain't never showed up and
I watched a thousand people go home from work

Hangin' on the corner of 52nd and Broadway
Cars passin' by but none of them seem to be goin' my way
New York City, well I wish I was on a highway
Back to Olympia...

How many times will it take me
Before I go crazy
Before I lose everything
Something burning deep inside
Ran into three Puerto Ricans
Those girls took me to the courthouse
I don't wanna be alone again.

Hangin' on the corner of 52nd and Broadway
Cars passin' by but none of them seem to be goin' my way
New York City, well I wish I was on a highway
Back to Olympia...

i dunno both versions are really good i like the way Fat Mike says the chorus better than the way Lint does but Rancid does a better job with the rest fo the song

yeah it's important for everyone to know that this is a cover song, it was originally by Rancid. I think NOFX did a kickass job with it, both versions are great.

I think that nofx did a much better job that Rancid, they seem to clean up alot of the song. Probably just because i like nofx's musical style more. i dunno it just seems that way rancid isnt as talented musicians so it doesn't sound as good...thats my opinion

ok ill tell you now NOFX is my favorite band better than any band i have EVER heard and will EVER hear but Rancid are definatly the most talented punk band(not hardcore punk just regualr punk) the only reason it doesnt sound so good is that nofx jsut has that kind of sound you love rancids sound is way to technical(ipaly guitar/bass/drums) so i know this but rancid is OK nothing compared to nofx but they do ahve some kick ass songs and for NOFX i have only heard about two songs i havent liked from them one being a nofx song(i think taht sthe name)its the last song on pump up the valuum and well thats the only one i dont like

I think this version is better than the Rancid one, although they are both awesome songs, but I just find myself getting more into this version than with the Rancid one.

can some one tell me what's so special about "the corner of 52nd and Broadway"? I mean, I went there and didn't saw anything. Is there something that I missed?

i went there too and was singing this song i guess thats what you missed

this song is awesome. i live in oly, wa.. but its definitely not THAT great lol woot woot

Cover art for Olympia, WA lyrics by NOFX

The Rancid version of this song is not as good because its so much slower, a good song, but the quicker tempo suits it better.

I like the Rancid version better. Probably because I like Rancid more than NoFX. Hate me for it if you want to. I've seen them both, and I think Rancid put on a better show. But I know plenty of people would disagree with me, and that's cool too.

Either way, this is still a great cover.
