Misery Lyrics

The world is treating me bad, misery.
I’m the kind of guy who never used to cry.
The world is treating me bad, misery.
I’ve lost her now for sure,
I won’t see her no more,
It’s gonna be a drag misery.
I’ll remember all the little things we’ve done,
Can’t she see she’ll be the only one, lone one,
Send her back to me ‘cos ev’ry one can see,
Without her I will be in misery.
I’ll remember all the little things we’ve done,
Can’t she see she’ll be the only one, lone one,
Send her back to me ‘cos ev’ry one can see,
Without her I will be in misery.
Oo in misery. Oo in misery.

Misery can be dated 26/1/63, when Paul and John were backstage at a concert at The Kings Hall, Stoke-on-trent, England, wherewhere they were playing a concert. They went and huddled together and wrote this song.

"Allan Clarke and Graham Nash helped on that song", remembers Tony Bramwell, then an employer of Brian Epstein. "C + N began throwing in suggestions for lines, while the boys were trying to get it ready for Helen Shapiro."

"I got on great with them", remembers Shapiro. "John was like a brother to me".

It was by chance that they wrote the song so quickly. John had already written the majority of the lyrics for this song in the form of a poem years before, shortly after his mother was killed by a drunk driver.

I just like this song... even if it is a sad topic.

The Great Wok, I didn't know the lyrics of this song came before the music. It's interesting because it was like that every now and then for John (such as Across the Universe), but Paul had that only happen once (All My Loving).

The song was actually written for a female performer to sing (sorry I forget the name), but her label turned it down.

Great song, so upbeat, especially for a sad topic (losing a girl and wishing you still had her)
