I Say A Little Prayer Lyrics
The moment I wake up
Before I put on my makeup
I say a little prayer for you
While combing my hair, now
And wondering what dress to wear, now
I say a little prayer for you
Forever and ever, you'll stay in my heart
And I will love you
Forever and ever, we never will part
Oh, how I'll love you
Together forever, that's how it must be
To live without you
Would only be heartbreak for me
I run for the bus, dear
While riding I think of us, dear
I say a little prayer for you
At work, I just take time
And all through my coffee break-time
I say a little prayer for you
Forever and ever, you'll stay in my heart
And I will love you
Forever and everwe never will part
Oh, how I'll love you
Together forever, that's how it must be
To live without you
Would only be heartbreak for me
I say a little prayer for you
I say a little prayer for you
Forever and ever, you'll stay in my heart
And I will love you
Forever and ever we never will part
Oh, how I'll love you
Together forever, that's how it must be
To live without you
Would only be heartbreak for me
My darling, believe me
For me there is no one
But you ....
Before I put on my makeup
I say a little prayer for you
While combing my hair, now
And wondering what dress to wear, now
I say a little prayer for you
And I will love you
Forever and ever, we never will part

Together forever, that's how it must be
To live without you
Would only be heartbreak for me
While riding I think of us, dear
I say a little prayer for you
At work, I just take time
And all through my coffee break-time
I say a little prayer for you
And I will love you
Forever and everwe never will part
Oh, how I'll love you
Together forever, that's how it must be
To live without you
Would only be heartbreak for me

haha My Best Friends Wedding!
haha thats what i remember this song from
I can never think of this song without laughing. I guess it's cause the first time I heard it was in My Best Friends Wedding and that scene was hilarious. It's a catchy song.
Subtle antiwar song, written during the Vietnam era. The protagonist is "saying a little prayer" for her guy, who is fighting overseas, and worries that she may wind up "living without him" (i.e., that he won't make it back alive).
Thanks for the info, mudshark.
Wow, mudshark, that's a really good interpretation. I heard this song on an oldies station in the middle of the night when I was about 9 years old and it's been one of my faves ever since!
Reminds me of Emily Dickinson who never went to church but prayed and stayed and composed in her house in Amherst, MASS. Nice song if you listen close and with an open mind to the olde interpretations of the band.
Spectacular song from the start, but the Burt Bacharach horn section really dials it up to eleven.
