This song is so deep. I think maybe its a plausible fear for a lot of people that you might be the one to put out someones light or stunt their growth. She's just telling him that she can't be the one to do that. She doesn't want to tame him or her. She wants to know them only as that free spirit. It's the ultimate gift you could give someone.
