In regards to the meaning of this song:
Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.”
That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.
binge cringe on the fringe
sloppy mincing eye dropping
biopsy cyclops overlooks
optic options
rotton showstopper skinpopper
babbler dabbler
self confessed criminal
tore pen in vain
instant still spellbound
game stock talk back rock
reencounter incident
subsistance inexistant
non committed
unwitted oblivious
habitual resistor
buff the stuff
roughed up edge
fluent nudge
pre-collect ignition
motivation inexistant
wasted views
thats all they see blue
hot blood guild
optic nerve
with the right attitude
you will succeed blue
self abusive recluse
too late for me
make shifting peace
settling crazy things
keep your eyes open
soft spoken changes nothing
a view so cruel
dogs body comatose
torchlight roast
disinterest
disinfect
retold impressed
by possession
insiders know refresh
detained contest
off and pure
sure tonight
it feeds itself freeze in time
or shadows climb distracting override
instincts evolve
and try over and over
wasted truth
why call at all blue
hot lines
eventual decline
with the right attitude
you will succeed blue
resent that discontent
sidestep
define the state of things
so far

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
Page
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
I disagree. Everyone knows Ogre was outspoken about animal rights. I am an activist myself, so I really get this one. I strongly believe it is about the hopeless feeling we all get when we realize we aren't getting very far with peaceful protest. I'm also a trained linguist, some of the lyrics are wrong. It's
wasted muse, that's all they see blue hot blood, guilt etc etc
and also, he mentions, quite clearly, animal testing.
sloppy, mincing, eye-dropping biopsy.
companies like johnson and johnson often burn animal's eye to test their products.
also,
dog's body comatose, torchlight roast disinterest etc
the military used to do tests where they would (really) burn dogs alive to test flamethrowers, the dogs did eventually lose consciousness. Nobody cares about these things, and if people knew what we did to our animals, they would be shocked.
blue is someone who is discouraged. hence, 'blue'.
why call at all, blue? hot lines eventual decline
nobody is listening
but,
with the right attitude, you will succeed blue resent that discontent etc
people don't even think about these things even though they made entire albums about animal rights. It is very important to Ogre.
@Luciferi "Blue" is clearly Sandra Good. instazu.com/tag/SandraGood
@Luciferi I appreciate your thoughts here and I'm grateful that you've shed a little light on the cave walls of this shrouded song. I have one question though- Who is the Warlock?

To me this song, on the very surface, is about Charles Manson and the destruction and fear he left in his wake. Charles Manson is the Warlock, and it's and endearing term to name him as. Charlie is a rotten showstopper, a skinpopper- a babbler dabbler. Someone who dabbles in psycho babble. Charlie is a self confessed criminal putting stock in games and listening to Beatle's talk back rock....with no subsistance, etc etc.

But looking deeper into the one long line, pulling back the perfectly chosen words we see the deeper meaning of the song, which is that humans are a violent race by nature. Listen to the words and watch them match the video. There is so much here, so much hidden and so much to learn as a violent species...
I'm sorry. In my response "and it's and endearing term" should have actually read as "and it's NOT AN endearing term."

Sorry about that. :)
