A Boring Story Lyrics
no more smiles and no more outrage
apathy pervasive
emotions narcoleptic
no more smiles since fucking sunday
sinking feelings drinking
early stinking septic
stinking like a dream
spoken outside in outside voices
struck silent into shruddering
and cold ground padded noises
sucking myself up
a truth that i don't need
last nights i don't believe
no slowing down
no faces smile no lips that frown
grey to neutral every synapse
stinking thoughts a pool of dinner
wipe my mouth and hope to die
this street is cold
early morning noises
this body reeling ugly
early morning choices
no more drinks til fucking noon
rotting teeth and gums
a blackening that sets in soon
and an all revealing smile
just falling down
won't make these hours turn around
i wish i could remember
what i'm trying to forget
apathy pervasive
emotions narcoleptic
no more smiles since fucking sunday
sinking feelings drinking
early stinking septic
stinking like a dream
struck silent into shruddering
and cold ground padded noises
sucking myself up
a truth that i don't need
last nights i don't believe
no slowing down
no faces smile no lips that frown
grey to neutral every synapse
stinking thoughts a pool of dinner
wipe my mouth and hope to die
early morning noises
this body reeling ugly
early morning choices
no more drinks til fucking noon
rotting teeth and gums
a blackening that sets in soon
and an all revealing smile
just falling down
won't make these hours turn around
i wish i could remember
what i'm trying to forget

a time gone by that needs not to be remembered, but only to live in the smile of one who is worthy. the actions that took place in the time that has past were not always thought out and maybe were not the best choices, but nothing can change what has happened.
I think it's about those moments in your life where you've let yourself become an apathetic drag and you slowly realize it in yourself. You kind of try to change for the better, but you're deep in your apathy. I feel this song's not about sadness, but about feeling emotionless. What really makes the Lawrence Arms stand out to me, I think, is the very specific imagery that they seem to convey in my head. I can imagine times in my past where I just sat around and moped, dissapointed with myself and relate it to this song. Even though the lyrics don't seem to be very hopeful, I feel like the melody juxtaposes the lack of emotion, making it sound kinda hopeful. Awesome song!
