You Still Believe In Me Lyrics
I know perfectly well
I'm not where I should be
I've been very aware
You've been patient with me
Every time we break up
You bring back your love to me
And after all I've done to you
How can it be
You still believe in me
I try hard to be more
What you want me to be
But I can't help how I act
When you're not here with me
I try hard to be strong
But sometimes I fail myself
And after all I've promised you
So faithfully
You still believe in me
I wanna cry . . .
I'm not where I should be
I've been very aware
You've been patient with me
You bring back your love to me
And after all I've done to you
How can it be
What you want me to be
But I can't help how I act
When you're not here with me
But sometimes I fail myself
And after all I've promised you
So faithfully

Hmm, I've always thought this has a double meaning - it can be taken as a song to a girlfriend, or to God. I like to think a religious but wayward guy like Brian always felt that God welcomed him back: "You still believe in me".
I can't say how awesome this song is. The melody is simple but it's amazing. Its meaning is pretty obvious.
Once again, another Beach Boys - Pet Sounds masterpiece. The song is just a perfect example of the feelings of a teenager who is just learning his way in love. It follows the other great song Wouldn't It Be Nice. Pet Sounds, as I said in the Wouldn't It Be Nice comments, was a perfect album, and one that should be heard from anyone. Brian Wilson put his heart, soul and feelings into this song, and the whole album. Just a fantastic album.
hydrobombs right - pet sounds is an unbelievable album and although the beach boys are a well recognised band i dont think they are taken as seriously as they should be. the 'i wanna cry...' is heartbreaking
song is one of the most truthful love songs in the world. i even had a dream about it once. it reminds me of my girlfriend. after all the b.s. i put her through, she still took me back so many times. i understand exactly what brian was saying, because when a girl is that good to you, sometimes you feel so guilty about it that you really do "wanna cry"
One of my very favorite songs on a wholly incredible album. The way the melody reaches for the sky and then tumbles back down at the end, on the word "cry" -- the way the harmonies blend in -- I can only dream about writing a song that amazing.
Of all the albums ever recorded, Pet Sounds is second only to SMiLE. But unlike SMiLE, every single song on Pet Sounds is nigh on perfect, and the vocals are all still so pristine and sweet. I'm conflicted.
Pet Sounds is the greatest album of all time. SMiLE is also pretty good. But Pet Sounds is superior.

I'm on a big Pet Sounds kick at the moment, and I have to say this is my favorite song on Pet Sounds. It's also my favorite overall, but I haven't heard much outside the early hits and Pet Sounds.
There's a remix of this song that appeared on the album "Hippocamp Ruins Pet Sounds." It's a bunch of electronic artists that remix and cut-up Pet Sounds. Some of the songs on that are really bad but some are very listenable. I really like the remix of You Still Believe In Me as much as the original.
Sounds like sacrilege, I'll have to give it a listen if I can.
