Away with the Faeries Lyrics
Come and lay down in the meadow
Rest your head amongst the flowers
Come and sip the sacred poison
Fly away on the wings of madness
And they were once known as angels from the sky and heaven
But now they are known as devils, demons, alien monsters
Chariot of psilocybe
Take me up to ride the lightning
Can you hear their feet a’dancing
Can you hear their voices singing?
And they were once known as angels from the sky and heaven
But now they are known as devils, demons, alien monsters
Let them fill your dreams with wonder, fever, pain and passion
Let them fill your head with thunder
On a toadstool painted scarlet
Sits a queen, a faery harlot
She will lead if you will follow
Down the road that leads to sorrow
From the Dreamworld she is calling
Come to me, come running, falling
Come and sip the sacred poison
Come and sip my sacred poison
Rest your head amongst the flowers
Come and sip the sacred poison
Fly away on the wings of madness
And they were once known as angels from the sky and heaven
But now they are known as devils, demons, alien monsters
Chariot of psilocybe
Take me up to ride the lightning
Can you hear their feet a’dancing
Can you hear their voices singing?
And they were once known as angels from the sky and heaven
But now they are known as devils, demons, alien monsters
Let them fill your dreams with wonder, fever, pain and passion
Let them fill your head with thunder
On a toadstool painted scarlet
Sits a queen, a faery harlot
She will lead if you will follow
Down the road that leads to sorrow
From the Dreamworld she is calling
Come to me, come running, falling
Come and sip the sacred poison
Come and sip my sacred poison

Delicately worded and very thematic. Almost a 'get away' from reality song, more-so than the usual Inky Sukk songs. Fantasy yet still gothic in its origins. Wonderful.
This song is fantastic...Candia's voice is delish.
If you hadn't already caught the magic mushroom references ['On a toadstool painted scarlet'], I stand here to point them out. Yes, you can take it on face value and say it's about faeries, but it's also about hallucinogens and the change of them from spiritual to recreation uses and the fact they have become taboo.
There is actually a very direct reference to hallucogens in the song:
"Chariot of psilocybe Take me up to ride the lightning"
Psilocybe is the genus of mushrooms that produces "magic mushrooms".
