Perfect One Lyrics

Place your mark on me now
Hang your star on my form
Hold your hope to my arm
Place your faith on my charm
This is how I would
This is all our time to tell
This is how we spread over rough things
Found from clipped wings

Look at me now
Look at me now
I've become the perfect one
Look at me now
Look at me now
I've become the perfect one

No such thing as "clean water"
No such thing as "clinical"
No such thing as "left to chance"
No such thing as "impartial stance"

This is how I would
This is all our time to tell
This is how we spread over rough things
Found from clipped wings

Look at me now
Look at me now
I've become the perfect one
Look at me now
Look at me now
I've become the perfect one

We pretend to be perfect. Perfection is an illusion propagated by superstitions.

We have all kinds of superstitions of which we are usually not even aware. Examples: If I give money to the poor, then I am a good person. If I try to be good, then I will have a comfortable life. If I eat well, then I will be healthy.

It could be a superstition to believe that we are perfect, that water can be cleaned, or that people can be impartial. It's superstitious to place a mark or hang a star.

Why do we believe that we can become the perfect one?

Lyrics are actually "This is our hour/This is hour time to tell"

Several references to injecting drugs (mark, arm) and the whole song feels like a day spent with someone who has gotten the speaker into drugs. They begin to ruminate on how this was all a choice, nothing is left to chance and despite the darkness/ominous vibe of the actual music behind the words, the speaker feels free (maybe in a tongue in check way) and his "wings" are no longer clipped; it takes pain to open new horizons.
