I kind of see the meaning of the song as this, sometimes, when she is bored, she'll create drama and scandal for something to do, and she deals with the damage later. Just my opinion..

God, I love the Sneaker Pimps, and this song just made me love them even more.

it pisses me off that six underground is more widely known. This is def. one of their best songs. Amazing.

I think this song is about a woman who's been cheated and she's tired of the drama but more importantly bored with the relationship. She just wants a smooth divorce but her partner is making that difficult due to his ignorance.

Divorce is no ordinary sin to this woman. In her mind it was always meant to play out like this, as if it's part of their perfect working order. My take it she saw it coming but because she'd rather sink than swim, she let the scenario play out.

Here she's found out about his transgression 'you let this scandal in', but she's not one to fight for this relationship that bores her. So she makes it known again she's rather it all sink than attempt to mend it.

Their marriage was based on the taste of dilution. I take it to mean it's been waning for some time now and she's bored.

I'd sooner sell it cheap could refer to the scandal. She'd rather it be looked upon as a cheap dirty thing her husband did than whatever the limbo media will paint it to be. It takes a gun to plea. I think she's offering divorce and thus putting a metaphorical gun to he partner's head which triggers him to plea for forgiveness.

He seems to think she wants an explanation or some form of bullshit excuse for his actions. But she's making it very clear here that she wants the 'damages' to sink in. It sounds like she wants him to think his cheating is the reason she's demanding a divorce, but it's really something she's had on her mind for a while because she's been bored for so long.

This portion is hard to decipher. I think with the impending divorce on her mind, she's losing her focus during the day but nights don't offer any lasting salvation to her own slightly guilty conscience. Guilty of keeping pretences when she was bored all along.

I love this song because I think it addresses a very important mindset in our world. The whole 'take what you can get and be happy' saying. This song highlights how doing that can lead one to a life of boredom where you simply put up with the other person while waiting for the inevitable end of your meaningless relationship. It's like a cautionary tale, be careful who you let fall for you.

it's about conspiracy and scandal within the government and her feelings about it. The message is hidden but also very obvious.
