Dark Entries Lyrics
Caressing bent up to the jug again
With sheaths and pills
Invading all those stills
In a hovel of a bed
I will scream in vain
Oh please miss Lane
Leave me with some pain
Went walking through this city's neon lights
In fear of disguising my warping seething
Pressure lines among confidant heirs
Intangible of price
Trying so hard to find what? What was right
I came upon your room it stuck into my head
We leapt into the bed degrading even lice
You took delight in taking down
All my shielded pride
Until exposed became my darker side
Puckering up and down some avenue of sin
Too cheap to ride they're worth a try
If only for the old times cold times
Don't go waving your pretentious love
He's soliciting on his tan brown brogues
Girating through some lonesome devils row
Pinpointing well meaning upper class prey
Of walking money checks possessing holes
He often sleekly offers his services
Exploitation of his finer years
Work with loosely woven fabrics
Of lonely office clerks
Any lay suffices his dollar green eye
With sheaths and pills
Invading all those stills
In a hovel of a bed
Oh please miss Lane
Leave me with some pain
Went walking through this city's neon lights
Pressure lines among confidant heirs
Intangible of price
Trying so hard to find what? What was right
We leapt into the bed degrading even lice
You took delight in taking down
All my shielded pride
Puckering up and down some avenue of sin

I believe it's analyzing how taboo carnal desires can be, and how most people try to quench their thirsts without being seen, in fear of social rejection.
WoW this is rough. Absolutely brilliant lyrics; I'd rather read this than most of the poetry that's published in books.
And yeah, the lyrics are different when he says them. For instance, he doesn't say "graceless heirs" in the second verse. I don't know what he says, which kind of annoys me.
@pleasebeatme92 Did you ever find out what he said in the second verse? I'm puzzled and annoyed about it too.

@pleasebeatme92: "Went walking through this city's neon lights In fear of disguising my warping seething Pressure lines among confidant heirs Intangible of price Trying so hard to find what was right."

Now, it could be "confident heirs," but "confidant heirs" suggests young, rich men who can keep secrets, so I'll stick with it.

Male prostitution
I love it when Bauhaus gets seedy and sleazy. Could it be about superman? I mean the miss Lane bit plus the bits which suggest hiding and disguise. Maybe the dark side of someone who tries to be perfect. Yes there is some hints of prostitution.
Okay, bear with me: this is a song about prostitution, debauchery, drug and alcohol use. I believe it is specifically about Dorian Gray. The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde, s one of Peter Murphy’s all-time favourite books (and a must read for all readers with gothic proclivities). The lyrics:”I will scream in vain Oh please miss Lane Leave me with some pain (sometimes “hit me with some pain“) makes me wonder if it’s not a play on words? Or a slight change of name for the sake of lyrical flow?
Dorian Gray was in love only once, with Miss Sybil Vane. He broke her heart and impregnated her, and she killed herself. That seemed to be the only guilt he carried. it was the turning point in his character, and held it in for the rest of his extended and youthful but wretched life. Today one can buy the shoe 48 by Dorian Gray dress boots which are tan brown brogues (as mentioned in the song )suited to the most well-dressed dandy.
One word.
Prositution.
Enough said.

My first Bauhaus song. Sooooo good.
"Don't go waving you pretentious lo-ahv!"
And yeah, it's about prostitution.
@penitenziagite Do you know what he actually says instead of "and graceless heirs"?

It's amazing how Peter Murphy can take something so crude and make it sound so good.
Why do the credits for this say "written by Michael Burkat"? Ive no idea who he is, but google suggests he's some current techno producer.. surely shome mishtake, here.
I think it might also concern some bdsm sex..
