This song is quite obviously about smokin' weed, how it's harmless, etc. Great song :)

I thought "The president seems to be just fine" was a reference to the popular idea that Bill Clinton (who was President when this song was released) was lying when he said he "didn't inhale" marijuana.

yep, it's about how in steve's opinion smoking pot is harmless and he wishes everyone he knows would get off his back about it.

This is a fun song. I like Smash Mouth's psychedelic-pop-rock, with hints of Reggae. In their song, they basically say "I relax, I have freedom to choose myself, it's harmless. Hypocrites who aren't happy complain about it. Clinton made it mainstream, acceptable." They say what many millions of people already know, except some government people wasting time...

So those are nice ideas from pre-2000. Now, we know Obama tried it because it's not dangerous (SAFER than hard liquor (can't overdose on pot, but every year, thousands from liquor...)), like so many competent people. How many people should go to PRISON for smoking pot? How many people's lives should be RUINED for this?

Thanks, Smash Mouth, for making a fun song that tells people to let pot smokers relax and enjoy. The worst that will happen is they'll eat too much, sleep a little more, and, yeah, have unhealthy lungs, just like tobacco smokers...
