First comment! Anyway, I think that this song is about how soldiers of war die with dignity and obtain respect from that. Also, I think that it is about how the heroes fall into the sand and become part of the earth. But they get respect from the divine.
I think it's about how those who die for what they belive in are fighting something they cant win and that their dreams are forgotten in the sand. So in other words it's about the hopless fight heroes undergo and that they are destend to fail.
