This song is very straight forward: The singer is discussing how she doesn't want her boyfriend, or girlfriend, to leave her. The guy/girl ignores the singer, treats her like crap, cheats on her, but she still doesn't want them to leave. She loves them.
It's a great-sounding song.
The first stanza should go "thinking of you right behind leaving the door open wide turning around to no one there there the last thing you said hanging in the air
oh, and "Ispent half the night a stranger" should be "Escorted home by a stranger."
