First off, should be "FAMINE, strife, and thoughts of war"

I think this song is from three different points of view, from three different people. The first verse a guy is saying that he hides from his own problems, so how is he going to help anyone else. Seems like this person is more interested in getting laid.

The second verse is basically a guy trying to make ends meet. Don't blame him for the world's problems.

The third verse is someone trying to make a difference but he's getting ignored.
