Don't Get 2 Close (2 My Fantasy) Lyrics
don't quiver little boy
your daddy's with you now
it won't be long anyhow
it's just around the corner
the destiny that i embrace with you
don't get 2 close to my fantasy
don't be afraid to clutch the hand of your creator
stare into the lion's eyes
and if u taste the candy
you'll get 2 the surprise
stay calm little dreamer
and drift off into dreams
the gentle kiss of night
is better than it seems
it's just around the corner
close your eyes and soon you'll be with me
your daddy's with you now
it won't be long anyhow
it's just around the corner
the destiny that i embrace with you
don't be afraid to clutch the hand of your creator
stare into the lion's eyes
and if u taste the candy
you'll get 2 the surprise
and drift off into dreams
the gentle kiss of night
is better than it seems
it's just around the corner
close your eyes and soon you'll be with me

I'm disturbed by the lack of comments on most Ween songs! Ween's the greatest band ever. I just had to point that out. (I picked "Don't Get 2 Close" cause that's the song that introduced me to Ween... Remember them in IT'S PAT? Ha!)
This happycatbags is pathetic. When you have to rely on such happycatbags as a means to spark happycatbags ,it is obvious you have nooooo happycatbags. happycatbags needs to rot in hell.
I think it might be about a dad who's already died speaking to his dying child, saying that they'll soon be together again.
I agree with Micro on this one, especially in the second verse it seems more like accepting death than molestation
Whoever is insisting that this song is about molestation needs to have their head checked and is clearly projecting. Ween may have some fucked up songs, but that would be going too far, even for them. As mentioned in a few sensible comments, it is more likely about a child who is approaching death in his sleep and is being greeted by his father (or perhaps even Jesus) who has already died. "Creator" = God. Trying to read more into the lyrics than that is on you.
From Ween.net FAQs: Is "Don't Get 2 Close 2 My Fantasy" really about child molestation? It has a perverted side but it is an homage to David Bowie Ziggy Stardust era music and lyrics. Scott Lowe provides harmony vocals. - See more at: http://ween.net/ween-faq.html#sthash.N1vACMd7.dpuf
i'm a little late to the party here, but i'm surprised no one mentioned this potential meaning: suicidal ideation.
the dad's dead and clutching the hand of your creator is death, whether the creator is the dad or God. staring into the lion's eyes is being brave and just getting it (suicide) over with. the gentle kiss of night refers to death. the childlike aspect of the song is because of how vulnerable someone wrestling with suicidal thoughts can feel.
don't get 2 close reminds me a bit of wake me up when september ends. the songs about a dead father and said "the innocent can never last" but no one thought that was about incest/molestation
nah - I don't think its incest. last verse has to be about death - aw hell, I'm gonna say its about a father comforting his dying child. ??? after all this is a band that made a little ditty about spinal meningitis. "It really hurts mommy. Am I gonna see jesus?"
it's incest. well, not necessarily incest. "daddy" could be a desired pet name, but it's definitely about child molestation.
I read on allmusic that this song sort of makes fun of power ballads/power metal/etc., and to me it makes enough sense. there's kind of a bombastic, grandiose tone throughout the song.
Yep, it's a grandiose Queensryche type song written from the perspective of a child molester...which makes it creepier to like...but that's what's so awesome about WEEN, they can make you love any song through their sheer awesomeness!!!!
