I'll Follow the Sun Lyrics

One day you'll look and see I've gone
For tomorrow may rain so I'll follow the sun
Some day you'll know I was the one
But tomorrow may rain so I'll follow the sun
And now the time has come so my love I must go
And though I lose a friend in the end you will know, oh
One day you'll look and see I've gone
For tomorrow may rain so I'll follow the sun
And now the time has come so my love I must go
And though I lose a friend in the end you will know, oh
One day you'll look and see I've gone
For tomorrow may rain so I'll follow the sun

This is most definitely about a breakup. I too feel that he is seeing better for himself around the corner, although there must be some air of sadness. This is obvious in the melancholy beginning of this song, in its musical intricacies.

I agree with fetalpiq86. I think there is a pretty strong undercurrent of bitterness in this song. He says "And though I lose a friend in the end you will know" not that he will know. He's like, yeah, your loss, you'll figure it out... eventually. BYE. Dag. It's harsh. I love it.

This song to me is about a man who just broke off with the woman he still loves but knows he must move on.

I think this is a simple song of a man trying to avoid sorrow in his life... Him "following the sun" is merely his way of not staying where sorrow will eventually land. He's apparently leaving a woman who doesn't appreciate him as much as she should.. That's just my opinion.. I could be wrong.

I think this song is about taking someone for granted that they'll always be there. He doesnt want to be around anymore cause she thinks he'll always be there waiting for her. He knows once he's gone that she'll regret it. It is a simple song, with few words that mean so much.

only 3 people have commented on this song? This is one of The Beatles most beautiful songs. It's right on up there with Let It Be and Blackbird. This song is obviously about breaking up with a girl in a nice way.

I got it more being more about somebody who had been dumped and this was kind of a bitter way of saying somebody you'll look and see I've gone, and you'll be sorry then, but I'm following the sun and I'll move on. At least, that's how I always interpreted it.

I think it's fascinating how people's personal experiences reflect in their interpretation of lyrics or literature of any kind. I've had this song stuck in my head for weeks, and I broke up with my boyfriend jsut because I didn't love him anymore as more than a friend... I don't know why, but that's what happened. I think this song is about situations like that. There's just no explation for it, but you've got to go. And it makes you sad, because you don't want to hurt people, but you've just got to go.

I heard he wrote it about his relationship with Jane Asher...saying he'll go somewhere else where the sun is shining (in another relationship) if its raining in the current one.
