this song is so emotional(vocals-wise)... I love how disconnected and desperate he sounds.
it's all about trying to reach someone who's already too far away, and only getting farther away by the minute. it's so horrible wanting to help someone or at least touch them in some way, but knowing you can't... every time I listen to this song, I think of the person who introduced me to this song in the first place, and unfortunately it's who the subject of the song makes me think of.
anyway, it's a great song, no matter how depressing it is. =P

i agree with delial, to me it's someone tryign to reach someone who's so far away... but yet so close... i live in nj right across the skyline and the person i think of lives in ny, and it kills me every time i look at the ny skyline.
