We met on English ground
in a backstage room
We heard the sound
And we all knew what we had to do
We called the high command
Requested leave to make a stand
And in the field we grew
And we all knew
Soon the time would come
For us to fight,
Destination
now in sight
Oooh, Manowar
Born to live forever more
The right to conquer every shore
Hold your ground and give no more
Our fight will never end
So we called on partisans
To raise your hands
And take our stand
Look sharp
when duty calls
Where we march
cities fall
And the strong survive
And take our side
in a backstage room
We heard the sound
And we all knew what we had to do
Requested leave to make a stand
And in the field we grew
And we all knew
For us to fight,
Destination
now in sight
Born to live forever more
The right to conquer every shore
Hold your ground and give no more
So we called on partisans
To raise your hands
And take our stand
when duty calls
Where we march
cities fall
And the strong survive
And take our side

You know, there's this song that I've been listening to for the last 2 1/2 years, and it sounds like Iron Maiden, but since Manowar sounds like Maiden...without the guitar harmonies, I'm wondering if its a Manowar song, or a Maiden song...any metalheads out there care to clue me in...
"Time to go/Back where I belong/No one can prevent me/From raising towers at Babylon/Time to go/Back where I belong/No one can accuse me/?/BAB-Y-LOOOOOOON!"
Thats the best I can do, cos the lyrics are very rough, as is the rest of the recording, so...have at it...
Oh, and just so as I don't look like a no count moron, this song is obviously Manowar anthem...seemingly anyway...heh...oxymorons are funny...

Yeah, it's definitely a Manowar song. Presumably it recounts the tale of how the band was formed.
The opening line 'we met on English ground' is indeed a reference to how the band was formed. Joey De Maio was working as a bass tech for Black Sabbath on a UK tour, and met Ross Friedman during that tour. As a direct result, the first line-up of Manowar came into being.
