I Need You Lyrics
You don't realize how much I need you
Love you all the time and never leave you
Please come back to me, I'm lonely as can be
Said you had a thing or two to tell me
How was I to know you would upset me?
I didn't realize as I looked in your eyes, I need you
You told me, oh yes you told me
You don't want my loving anymore
That's when it hurt me and feeling like this
I just don't go on anymore
Please remember how I feel about you
I could never really live without you
So, come on back and see
Just what you mean to me
I need you, I need you
Love you all the time and never leave you
Please come back to me, I'm lonely as can be
Said you had a thing or two to tell me
How was I to know you would upset me?
I didn't realize as I looked in your eyes, I need you
You told me, oh yes you told me
You don't want my loving anymore
That's when it hurt me and feeling like this
I just don't go on anymore
Please remember how I feel about you
I could never really live without you
So, come on back and see
Just what you mean to me
I need you, I need you

George wrote this for Pattie, his wife.
Wasn't this the very same Patty that Eric Clapton fell in love with and wrote "Layla" for???!!!

@redshiftdazzleron Yes she was. Patty Boyd was married to George Harrison from 1966 to 1977 and then she married Eric Clapton from 1979-1989. Now,she is not married to someone else - a non-celebrity and not a singer - in Roy Weston since 2015. Patty Boyd also inspired George to write "Something", "If I Needed Someone" and "For Your Blue".And you got it right. She was the inspiration of Eric Clapton for "Layla" and "Wonderful Tonight".

@redshiftdazzleron With regards to "I Need You", I think that George and Patty weren't married yet as the album and the movie "Help!" was shown in 1965. But they met in the 1964 movie,"A Hard Day's Night" and they probably had an ongoing relationship.

@song4julia It was claimed that George wrote it for Patty when they separated while the former was in the Bahamas in 1965. But apparently, some have disproved that theory as the recording of the "Help!" happened before George went to the Bahamas. It was probably a song he made for her as a source of inspiration or a love song. They were not married yet when this song was released in 1965.

this is probably my least favorite george song
i love the guys singing, and like we all, sometime in our life , we heare a song, it is the right stuff for this time, for me so. this is associated with good feelings.
I like this song a lot. One of my favorites from HELP! I think the use of that dreamy guitar sound was before it's time.
This song is really sweet. It's short and simple, but the point comes across. Cute. It's the kind of song you only hope someone will one day write for you!
I adore this track, so self explanatory, i also love Georges voice on this as well! I play it to my unborn baby! (sad i know!!!)
I think this song is as good as some of the better Lennon/McCartney songs. I think it's strange that George didn't comment on the song in his I Me Mine book. I agree with MrLongrove on the guitar sound in this song.
This is just a very lovely and pleasant sounding song to me. I often hum it to myself. And yes, I agree that the "dreamy guitar sound" really makes this song special, just as MrLongrove said. I sometimes wish I could see concert footage of George performing this song in his solo career but I doubt he ever did it.
Good earlier song really. Simple and to the point.
When im heart broken i think of this song. Sad moments :(
