Thumbs out on a desert road I am told
Leads to nowhere
Any shade is as good as the next
If your shadow doesn't go there
Week seven, did you really assume
I'd find some solace from the letter in your room?
Next life, could you kindly refrain
From throwing yourself at the mercy of a train?
Silence all, nobody breathe.
How in the world could you just leave?
You promised you would
Silence that evil with good
Hear me out, I have the floor
I'll give you my tears, I'll listen more
You promised you would
Overcome evil with good
Maybe this world is a barren place for a soul
Prone to get lost
But heaven still hounds from the smallest sounds
To the cries of the storm-tossed
Week nine: I am writing in the sand
Any little clue that could help me understand
Every whispered secret, every muffled sigh
Every half-truth that was added to a lie
Silence all, nobody move
I've got to know now what you hoped to prove
You promised you would
Silence that evil with good
Shame feeds guilt, guilt needs release
You took it to god
You made your peace
And swore that you would
Overcome evil with good
Every old demon playing back the crime
If they needed blood, I'd have gladly given mine
A child of the kingdom; still an invalid
Forgive her, please father
She don't know what she did
Silence all, now go to sleep
The water's free, the well is deep
How can we return
That which we never could earn?
God, I long to see her face
We haven't a hope
Beyond your grace
I know that you will
Overcome evil
For good
Leads to nowhere
Any shade is as good as the next
If your shadow doesn't go there
Week seven, did you really assume

Next life, could you kindly refrain
From throwing yourself at the mercy of a train?

Magical

Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
Soppy - "We havent a hope beyond your grace" means that theres nothing after Gods grace. His grace is the ultimate hope...
This is such an amazing song. It's about a girl the singer knew who committed suicide. The melody is so haunting and the lyrics so moving that this song is the best off the album "Going Public" and one of my favourite Newsboys songs.
I have been a Newsboy fan since their first album and have seen them in concert many times. This song is a very haunting tune about a person commiting suicide and leaving their friend to sort out why. When I was 15 my 13 year old brother committed suicide and I still cry every time I hear this song(I'm 48 now) The closing music in this song totally blows me away.
Sad song. Probably the most popular "dark horse" hit among the newsboys tunes. It's about, probably a father, whose daughter commits suicide. He tries to go through it and "solve" it by himself. He goes through alot of confusion and obvious heartbreak. But at ther end of the song he finally hands everything over to God. I don't really know what they mean by the verse "We havent a hope beyond your grace",if this is talking about God's effect on the father,i would most definately agree. But i disagree with the fact that anyone who commits suicide like the song descirbes as a chance of going to Heaven. But its still a good song.
Hi!

I just want to add that I totally disagree. If Jesus death only helps for sins that we brought to God and asked for forgiveness then that would mean that we only get access to heaven when we die straight after we ask for forgiveness and if we did not forget any sins that we committed. I myself am too bad a person to be aware of all my sins and there is usually some time in my life between committing a sin and asking for forgiveness...
Besides that I had the unpleasant chance to think a bit about suicide as some of my aqucaintances committed suicide. I would say that no healthy mind does not go so far as to commit suicide. That means if someone commits suicide he is not healthy. In my opinion that means that the death therefore is no more or less the result of a disease as if someone dies from cancer. Depressions are considered as one - of not the - worst disease at all and I think nobody who did not suffer from that should even think that he might be able to understand how bad that is. (not saying that God is not able to heal that ...)

Therefore - to come to the point - I strongly believe that God's grace also covers the sin of committing suicide - not more or less than if a committed Christian dies straight after lying (or making room for some bad thought) to someone.

Amen ...
Daniel
This is an incredible song, sad and uses a play on the word elegy, which is a song or poem that was composed as a memorial for a person that has passed away.
