I'm not really sure, but seems more like child abuse to me, like shand2001 is suggesting. Either way, it's a beautiful song.
The name Anna Lee is similar to Edgar Allen Poe's Annabel Lee. The Poem, taken literally, is about a man who falls in love with his childhood sweetheart but she suffers an early death. This could be consistent with the child abuse, i.e. Anna Lee's chance at a normal life and a normal love was ended early whereas Annabel Lee's life and love were ended early.
