This Note's For You Lyrics

Don't want no cash
Don't need no money
Ain't got no stash
This note's for you.

Ain't singin' for Pepsi
Ain't singin' for Coke
I don't sing for nobody
Makes me look like a joke
This note's for you.

Ain't singin' for Miller
Don't sing for Bud
I won't sing for politicians
Ain't singin' for Spuds
This note's for you.

Don't need no cash
Don't want no money
Ain't got no stash
This note's for you.

I've got the real thing
I got the real thing, baby
I got the real thing
Yeah, alright.

Rock and roll + beer commercials = BS. Neil's direct shot at the Eric Claptons of the world (think 1989, "After Midnight" remake ads for Michelob Dry). Although many look to "Freedom" as the inception of Neil's great comeback in the 1990's, I think it started here--a great album.

I echo the comments of Mike here. In a world increasingly populated by televison adverts full of the music that once meant something ANTI commercial, I am constantly heartbroken to hear it used in such a mercantile way. Fewer and fewer hold out against this; it's nice to know Neil won't betray me. And I agree, I was living back home in Canada when this came out, it was the harbinger of Neil's comeback, before Freedom, even.
