I think that what Chris is saying in this song is that he had a relationship and it went bad because neither of them could work things out. He realizes that it could be worked out and wants to try again to get it back together. He wishes that she will change how she is so that they can talk and open up without holding back feelings and emotions.

this song is about two people's summer romance, and they would like to try to take the relationship at a slower pace, not jumping into things to quickly. And he's hoping that they'll be about to get to know one another by talking

I agree w/ mp8503. I definitely agree that the couple probably moved a little too fast and it sort of ruined the relationship. He knows there is potential and wishes the girl would change her ways and really try and work things out. "Ever think we should try to re-establish that connection that we made during last summer's days?" Except this time, the connection should be emotional as well instead of just physical. (Maybe I should be subtle or maybe I should be more pure) He wants to talk about their feelings and how it's okay to admit that even though they had a summer fling or were attracted first just by physical appearance, perhaps if they'd taken the time to really get to know each other, something special could result. (but I think we should talk about what we were going through and I wonder what it would be like if we had kept up that aversion...)

i agree. i can relate to this song so much.. i love saves the day.

i think that this is std's best song, both recorded and live. when chris sang this, it was like a musical explosion. it's fast paced and full of energy, and the lyrical content is so poetic. i adore this song, it's definitely my favorite std song on the best album i own, hands down.

is that the name of the movie, street car named desire? anyone know anything about that quote, oh and also what do you all think the line... but isn't it ironic how you still have ideals and I still have nothing? has to do wit hthe song?

Im from Delaware..... thought it was neat that there was a song from std....with the word ' Delaware ' in it..:-/
