Breaking Their Hold Lyrics
When you see them coming in form.
And they say they do what’s best for you.
Fighting for one total control.
They are planned and organized for you.
Breaking their hold. Breaking their hold of control they strive.
To keep you down, behind your back, the time has come, the end is near.
It's when you sleep, so late at night, and in the light, getting prepared.
It's not to help you, but help their cause, under one system, you wont exist.
They are the few, with all the power, our system screams, we can't let them tear our hearts out.
Screaming, pulling on our pride. Stand together for the right cause, one system to our demise.
Stand together for the right cause, one system to our demise.

only song by a7x that i don't realy like. maby it reminds me too much of like a middle school type relationship maby it's cause i'm a girl and it's about how girls mess with guys and a basicly bitches. maby it's bc it makes them sound like a not so very talented highschool band or you know it could be all three.
but other than this song I LOVE A7X
woah put this under wrong song should be 4 thick and thin.
To me, this song is about rebelling against your parents. It's about you fighting for total control of your life and gaining independence. "And they say they do what’s best for you. Fighting for one total control. They are planned and organized for you. Breaking their hold. Breaking their hold of control they strive."
I dont really know what this song means, neither do i remember how it sounds, lol, but i love all the songs that A7X has ever done so im sure its a good song in my book.
Maybe has to do with ure parents but it sounds like more of a typical anti-governent song to me... this is just a guess paired with the random fact that shadows came from a punk band to a7x and punk bands are GENERALLY anti-governement..... "they say they do what’s best for you" "Fighting for one total control"
"Breaking their hold. Breaking their hold of control they strive' "To keep you down, behind your back, the time has come, the end is near" - Sayin to speak against gov./rebel "It's when you sleep, so late at night, and in the light, getting prepared." Saying theyre plaanning behind ure back "It's not to help you, but help their cause, under one system, you wont exist." - System again = gov. "They are the few, with all the power" -obviously the governement
The last 1/3 of this song really gets me going especially the last sentence.. good song... short but i dont think it'd be any good to have been longer.
gov? im not pretty sure..well,i like the drum sound in this song..powerfull (for me)..but i like all their song..now,finally i g0t 4 albums of their mp3 in my phone..with da critical acclaim and walk(pantera cover)
It's obviously an anti-government song.
Let me also quote: "Of course they have control, we're all the same."
that could also refer to your parents having control of you as a teenager
Since I'm a Rise Against fanboy, the first thing I thought after hearing this song and seeing the lyrics was "anti-government." However, I don't like literal interpretations of songs, so I think its just about being controlled by anything, not specificially parents or government, and telling you to break free from whatever system is holding you back.
I believe that this song is about just being you and not being controlled by a "system"
