lowdown, cheatin, aint no need for repeatin,
so love, dawg, cant ye see? That you never gotta fight with me.
Hurtin. Beatin. Aint no need for repeatin,

Chancing, glancing, sho nuff mood for romancing

Simple and short lyrics BUT

I relate to this song because, first of all, I love the tune.

Secondly, you can squeeze much out of the lyrics.

"Lowdown, cheatin', ain't no need for repeatin' so Love Dawg can't you see? That you never gotta fight with me."

He loves her in a "cheating" way. That is the Love Dawg part (it is not Love Doll, fyi). He is a lover, not a fighter.

"Hurtin', Beatin', ain't no need for repeatin' so Love Dawg can't you see? That you never gotta bleed for me."

He doesn't want her to "bleed" for him, meaning don't get too emotional about it all. He is saying no more hurting each other and no more beating each other up. He is not into harming her. "Stop the games".

"Chancin', Glancin', sho nuff mood for romancin' so Love Dawg can't you see? That you only gotta dance with me."

They have amazing romantic chemistry and like to stare at each other and take chances with each other. "Dancing" could mean connecting, engaging, playing, and/or simply taking part together in life somehow.

That is what this song has always meant to me.

This is such a romantic song to me.... if I were ever to marry my current boyfriend, I would want this song to play. I never thought it was about an affair, I guess I always took it to mean "Let's have something simple, forget fighting and all the complications, let's just dance."

I also always thought it was "Look, doll, can't you see" Instead of "Love dawg" ... Could be wrong about that but I prefer it my way! :-P

In my opinion this song is talking about a fight between two guys, probably between two friends.

I think he's trying to say he really doesn't want to fight him, but if he does, it's one on one and if he hurts him, he doesn't mean to, and if he could, he'd reach out and grab him and tell him how much he cares about him with out seeming.. "homosexual"..

When they fight, he's going to fight him honorablly.

My Opinion

the lyrics don't even have to be great, that's what makes the song lovely... the words are simple and the music is wonderful.

I actually love the lyrics. Obviously they are about an affair. The phrase "you only gotta dance with me" is perfect, especially after hearing him sing it at the end.

“Lowdown, cheatin, aint no need for repeatin, so love dawg cant ye see? That you never gotta fight with me.” —Lowdown cheating dawg, but there’s no need to fight.

“Hurtin, Beatin, Aint no need for repeatin, so love dawg cant ye see, that you never gotta bleed for me.” —Hurting and beating (yourself up=remorse), but there’s no need to dwell (the past is just that).

“Chancing, glancing, sho nuff mood for romancing, so love dawg cant ye see that you only gotta dance with me.” —Chancing and glancing (forgiveness and making up), forget about it and focus on the here and now.

Straightforward lyrics, I think the simplicity is great, it’s a good one for sure.
