Ziggy Stardust (David Bowie cover) Lyrics
Ziggy played guitar
Jamming good with Weird and Gilly
And the Spiders From Mars
He played it left hand
But made it too far
Became the special man
Then we were Ziggy's band
Ziggy really sang
Screwed up eyes and screwed down hair-do
Like some cat from Japan
He could lick 'em by smiling
He could leave them to hang
Came on so loaded man
Well hung and snow-white tan
So where were the Spiders
While the flies tried to break our balls
Just the beer light to guide us
So we bitch about his fans and should we crush his sweet hands
Ziggy played for time
Jiving us that we were voodoo
But the kids were just crass
He was the nazz, with God-given ass
He took it all too far
But boy, could he play guitar
Making love with his ego
Ziggy sucked up into his mind
Like a leper messiah
When the kids had killed the man
We had to break up the band
Now Ziggy played guitar
Jamming good with Weird and Gilly
And the Spiders From Mars
He played it left hand
But made it too far
Became the special man
Then we were Ziggy's band
Screwed up eyes and screwed down hair-do
Like some cat from Japan
He could lick 'em by smiling
He could leave them to hang
Came on so loaded man
Well hung and snow-white tan
While the flies tried to break our balls
Just the beer light to guide us
So we bitch about his fans and should we crush his sweet hands
Jiving us that we were voodoo
But the kids were just crass
He was the nazz, with God-given ass
He took it all too far
But boy, could he play guitar
Ziggy sucked up into his mind
Like a leper messiah
When the kids had killed the man
We had to break up the band

this is song is about the character David Bowie played-Ziggy stardust- on his album entitled Ziggy stardust and the spiders from mars. aparently ziggy was from another planet and came to earth to make a name for himself but became extra famous and it went to his head
this is one of my favorite cover songs ever recorded.
This cover song was extremely well done. And that's a feat..I usually hate cover songs.
And wow! Bowie was definitely UNDERrated. He was/is a record producer, singer, songwriter, artist, internet entrepreneur, actor.. he did it all. And he's STILL going strong. No one I can think of has lasted as long as him in the music business, and he was pretty much the one to introduce more theatre and imagination into music in the 70s, and he also strongly nfluenced mainstream culture to widely accept the gay/lesbian community when it was shunned.
But back on topic. Bauhaus are amazing! This cover song was simply stellar.
A good cover. I prefer it over the original. Its more energetic.
It's not often I prefer the cover to an original - but this is an exception.
well.. I'm no guitar-pro, but I really like this cover.
Bauhaus covered Bowie? FUUUUUUUUUUUU------ thats awesome.
David Bowie is overrated in my opinion, but this has got to be one of the greatest covers ever. Bauhaus are amazing. /Saturnine/
the reason they did this song was cuz peter murphy had such a resembling voice to david bowie that they felt it was necessary.
A brilliant cover version of a great song bowie was ahead of his time and this song shows it.
