Little Heaven Lyrics

Opened my eyes
The fire had come
Not for the end of days
Not for the faithless ones
Not for vision understood

Burns because it has to burn
Change will happen whether we
Are still or moving
Breathe in waves of doubt
Bitter in your mouth
You will exhale cinnamon clouds

When it is quiet and still
I can feel older here
Change what I can and pray
That hope will not disappear
When we are not denying anything
Nothing is an enemy
Delicately balancing
The perfect world

Ride these waves of doubt
Bitter in your mouth
You will exhale cinnamon clouds

Little heaven
Riding waves of doubt
Turns me inside out
I will exhale primal shout

Little heaven

I understand
The fire will come
Not for the strength of will
Or passion of anyone

I understand
The fire will come
Not for the end of days
Not for the faithless ones

whenever i hear this song, i dream of dancing in a dim room with a great guy without any other care in the world-- very similar to how buffy and pike do in the buffy movie (which i will shamelessly admit is one of my favourite movies of all time... pretty much my mary poppins). if this song is good enough to make them forget about vampires-- it must be good!

@sonneeah I was actually surprised, when I finally looked up the lyrics, that it was not a romantic song. (I used to think the last line was 'I'm not gonna fail this one' as in a relationship). But, despite this, I always see that scene in my mind and I absolutely love the song.

Excellent song. Classic. Ultimate romance track. Featured on the movie "Buffy" as the track Buffy and Pike dance to - some trivia for you!

This is my favorite track off of "In Light Syrup."

I'm very new at this, but this song, like a number of others from Toad, are very Christian. Jesus is often referred to as the one who will purify with fire. This song, Fly from Heaven and even Inside seem to fall in this genre...Inside reads like a prayer...I'm a rookie, but I notice a theme from this band that I've loved for almost 20 years.

@trscarice is right. It seems a couple of the "faithless ones" have marked you down, even though the song says he will change what he can and pray. Haha! Toad does have a lot of Christian faith in their songs, including one about the apostle Paul.

To me the song is encouraging patience and stoicism. Pretty much, things happen, and we'll do the few things we can about it, but that doesn't mean it is fate, or some big design, or inevitable. Bad things aren't necessarily a punishment. Life is full of change and all we can do is hold onto our hopes and plod on. And the less we fight with each other, and nature, the fewer things there are to be our enemies.
