Wasn't this a Buddy Holly song originally? Or am I losing my mind. Well I heaqd a very old scratchy version of it by a very young Beatles and its quite enjoyable to listen to. I don't think Ringo was even with them yet. I think Gerry and the Pacemakers may have covered this song then afterwards, somebody did anyways and went up the charts with it.
This is a very early Lennon song. In fact I think it was the first he presented to the Beatles.

This was John's first original song; it was written when he was 18. During this time, John and Paul were still the Quarrymen and rehearsing at Paul's house.
Paul's first written song was 'I lost my little girl' and John's 'Hello little girl'. Looks like John found her :)
