Laid So Low (Tears Roll Down) Lyrics
Chewed the bone down too low
Got fed on tea and sympathy
Blew the saiil like the wind
I wish you were my enemy
I was humble for you
What a fool I've been to have
Lais so low for so long
Into the void of silence
Where we cry without sound
Where tears roll down
Where tears roll down
And where you mother's violence
Sent your soul underground
Where tears roll down
Where tears roll down
Drew the blade way too slow
Was shackled by your honesty
made a mess, I guess I should have knowen
That life was lust and liberty
Not a chance mutation or the last temptation
Laid low for so long, so low
Into the void of silence
Where we cry without sound
Where tears roll down
Where tears roll down
And where you mother's violence
Sent your soul underground
Where tears roll down
Where tears roll down
Got fed on tea and sympathy
Blew the saiil like the wind
I wish you were my enemy
I was humble for you
What a fool I've been to have
Lais so low for so long
Where we cry without sound
Where tears roll down
Where tears roll down
And where you mother's violence
Sent your soul underground
Where tears roll down
Where tears roll down
Was shackled by your honesty
made a mess, I guess I should have knowen
That life was lust and liberty
Not a chance mutation or the last temptation
Laid low for so long, so low
Where we cry without sound
Where tears roll down
Where tears roll down
And where you mother's violence
Sent your soul underground
Where tears roll down
Where tears roll down

Amazing song, No idea of the meaning or whats behind it. Would love to hear other people's thoughts.
I can't make a very good interpretation, because I draw so much of it as parallels to my life.
The bulk of the song was written after the split with Curt, and Roland admits the phrase "so low" is an intentional play on words (solo), however the chorus itself is a leftover from the Seeds Of Love sessions (released in its own right as the song 'Tears Roll Down', which was the b-side to 'Sowing The Seeds Of Love').
ok, biba01, is this song about curt then? Or is Roland just all like yeah doing a solo.. Or wht?
It was written by Dave Bascombe and Roland Orzabal, so, no, I would guess it isn't about Curt. Great song.

I think this music is saying that his mother laid him so low that he wants that her would be his enemy ... I mean ... the mother love is something so strong and when you couldn't enjoy that you get in a situation where you start to think that another kind of relationship could be more deep or honest like a relationship with an enemy ...and what kind of relationship you keep with an enemy? You just don't keep or you hate but never this kind of feeling of loves who hates you. It's a sad message from a son to his mother I think
