this is a pretty self explanitory song about whalers and whales and the injustice of it all.
It was written by the drummer, Jack Irons and if I do say so myself, the whales couldn't have anyone better on their side.
It's about the mistreatment of whales, obviously.

i think this was one Jack Irons wrote while he was with the band, around 1997. could b mistaken but eitherway he heavily influenced PearlJams new/weird/offbeat/whatever you want to call it sound at the time (Who You Are, In My Tree, Hail Hail/Evolution). great drummer
very great drummer wanted by almost everyone. not only does this song have great pj stuff but always reminds me of the connection jack had w/ hillel slovak (guitar player for rhcp jacks best friend)
if you like this song you have to get his album attention dimension its really beautiful. it shows more about who jack is as a person who cares as much about whales and dolpines as he does for humans maybe even more. i love his big whale tattoo he hes on his heart!
I freakin love this song, The meaning is pretty obvious especially siince it was written for an environmental cause (" I think it was called music for our mother ocean" or something) but this song inspired me to do my senior paper on whales and their dwindling population....
Whalers are still hunting whales from japan people....and they're gaining more and more influence...

This song is really great. Jacks voice is calming and relaxing just like a whale. Well I think so. Anyways, really great song, needs more comments. =)
i have alot more respect for whales after hearing this song. I'm not gonna lie i was pretty ignorant towards the whale population before but now i totally love those things.
