Accidents Never Happen Lyrics
No I don't believe in luck
No I don't believe in circumstance no more
Accidents never happen in a perfect world
So I won't believe in luck
I saw you walking in the dark
So I slipped behind your footsteps for a while
Caught you turning 'round the block
Fancy meeting in a smaller world
After all accidents never happen
Could have planned it all
Precognition in my ears
Accidents never happen in a perfect world
Complications disappear
Now you love me
I yeah I can tell
I never lied
I never cried
And you, you knew so well
Like the Magi on the hill
I can divinate your presence from afar
And I'll follow you until
I can bring you to a perfect world
Accidents never happen in a perfect world
Accidents never happen
No I don't believe in circumstance no more
Accidents never happen in a perfect world
So I won't believe in luck
I saw you walking in the dark
So I slipped behind your footsteps for a while
Caught you turning 'round the block
Fancy meeting in a smaller world
After all accidents never happen
Could have planned it all
Precognition in my ears
Accidents never happen in a perfect world
Complications disappear
Now you love me
I yeah I can tell
I never lied
I never cried
And you, you knew so well
Like the Magi on the hill
I can divinate your presence from afar
And I'll follow you until
I can bring you to a perfect world
Accidents never happen in a perfect world
Accidents never happen

i can't believe no one has commented on this! This is my favorite Blondie song ever I see it as kind of the sequel to One Way Or Another haha
8 years later and I can't believe it either. A new-wave classic song. Great catchy tune.

Has close lyrical links to "Touched by your presence dear". Who was the theologian in the band Valentine, or Stein? I love both songs by the way. In fact there's few Blondie tracks I dislike on any level.

Maybe she's talking about life after death where accidents never happen because you can't die or similar. Also she's taking or following someone to this perfect world. Mysterious lyrics, pure class 70s cool sound. This song influenced a lot 80s female groups: Berlin, Bangles, Kim Wilde...
OK. 12 years later, 2nd comment:
This song not only ROCKS, but it's a pure biblical exposition of Calvinist theological doctrine. All things and events are an ongoing revelation of Almighty God's sovereign predestinating will. There are no mistakes. There is no PLAN B.
(B for BLONDIE) ☺
@NomadMonad I can see why you think that - but I believe it is a stalker hiding behind predestination theology. "Slipped behind your footsteps for a while, Caught you turn round the block," Fancy that! We bumped into each other again - small world - must be destiny!
