Late 20th Century Boy Lyrics
you wake in the morning, but you're hard to find
a look in the mirror, what you've left behind
you go to your job, or you wander round
theres plenty of stuff, but nothing to be found
you're a late 20th century
postmodern refugee
a late 20th century
postmodern tragedy
theres nothing that'll move ya
theres plenty to be bought
theres no kind of mystery
theres no new thought
tied up in your neurotic
airhead celebrities thats all you got
you're a late 20th century
postmodern refugee
a late 20th century
postmodern tragedy
separated from nature and earth
you foraged once now you're chained to a hearse
you disappeared in that checkout line
the price you paid was always just fine
you're a late 20th century
postmodern refugee
a late 20th century
postmodern tragedy
a look in the mirror, what you've left behind
you go to your job, or you wander round
theres plenty of stuff, but nothing to be found
postmodern refugee
a late 20th century
postmodern tragedy
theres plenty to be bought
theres no kind of mystery
theres no new thought
tied up in your neurotic
airhead celebrities thats all you got

I like the way this song can put you into a trance...
To me, it sounds like hes talking about a person from the 90s (late 20th century) ... goes on the describe the fads of the 90s, check the 3rd paragraph for that....
after that, it looks like the character dies for some unmentioned reason.. and it appears as if they're getting at the fact he died almost unnoticed (didnt show up at the checkout line). He left without leaving a mark behind, kind of like the 90s.
great song!
