California Lyrics

I'm gonna move to southern California,
I got me a ride and a reason to ignore you,
Got me a radio, ain't got no speakers,
Ain't much use so I'm leavin it for you
(I'm leavin it for you),
Could be back for you.
Gotta find a room, and runnin outta money,
Stayin up late but I gotta get up early,
Why did I move to southern California,
Smog isn't blue, someone shoulda warned you
(They shoulda warned you)
I could be back, I could be back for you
Why did I move?
(Southern California)
Why did I move?
(Southern California)
Why did I move?
(Southern California)
Why did I move?
(Southern California)
Why did I move to southern California

Just a few comments: I'm aware some of the lyrics i put in there might be incorrect, for those of you who actually know this song and have ever heard of Wax. But i tried, and it's right for the most part. I mean, the way i got the lyrics was from listening to the song, so if you can't figure it out from listening to it...i dunno.

This song is great. The only correction I can think of is "smog isn't blue," instead of "smile gets blue."

Anyways, I think its meaning's pretty clear. A guy moved away from his girl, and misses the Hell out of her.

Southern California really is an unpleasant place to live, particularly the cancerous growth known as Los Angeles. Think about it. Every song. Every song about that place is critical about it. The smog isn't blue. They shoulda warned you.

One good song for a band is better than no good songs at all.

The singer impulsively moves to Southern california, where he perceives the lifestyle to be better. "Gotta find a room, and runnin' out of money- Stayin up late, but I gotta get up early" There you have it. He stays up late trying to live the fun life he expected to find but he has to get up and work to try to make ends meet. California is extremely expensive. The guy goes there with nothing, thinks its going to be all fun and excitement, and now realizes its really hard to get by. He's realizing his errors by not planning things through better and regrets
