the ultimate funeral song. someone passing on (the sun is setting, the sun wont rise another day) surrounded by loved ones (all the friends and family). theres something wistfully optimistic about the music that just makes this song beautiful
Ed talked about this song at the concert in San Diego 2006. He wrote it soon after finding out that his mentor, Clayton Liggett, had passed away. The chords at the start of the song are meant to be like bells - ringing out the loss of his mentor and friend. A beautiful and fitting tribute to someone important to Ed and a lot of other people. Well worth listening to that concert just for that song and talk by Ed.
they lyric is not the sun won't rise another day, it is the sun will rise another day. That makes so much more sense if you think about it. In many of PJ's songs they like to focus on human tragedy and the fact that the world keeps right on moving...which is even more tragic to the loved ones of that person sometimes.
