I've gotta disagree. It's a gorgeous song. At least the album version is. I don't care for the more techno-ish single remix. Supposedly Neil and Chris hated the way the Introspective version turned out. So, again, I play the role of the contrarian.
I don't think the claim is that music is going to prevent all the s*** that's going on...just that at least we have music and always will, no matter how much everything else sucks.
This is probably the worst of all the Pet Shop Boy songs. Not only is the sentiment totally wrong (The world is going to hell in a handcart and music will save it....rrriight), but it is a total mess of a song that Tennant/Lowe picked up from somewhere and put their own take on it, i.e. one of their very few cover versions. I wish they'd left it in the gutter where they'd found it.
