Watching Me Fall Lyrics
I'VE BEEN WATCHING ME FALL FOR IT SEEMS LIKE YEARS
WATCHING ME GROW SMALL, I WATCH ME DISAPPEAR
SLIPPING OUT MY ORDINARY WORLD, OUT MY ORDINARY EYES
yeah SLIPPING OUT THE ORDINARY ME INTO SOMEONE ELSE'S LIFE
INTO SOMEONE ELSE'S LIFE...
THERE'S A THIN WHITE COLD NEW MOON AND THE SNOW IS COMING DOWN
AND THE NEON BRIGHT TOKYO LIGHTS FLICKER THROUGH THE CROWD
I'VE BEEN DRIFTING AROUND FOR HOURS AND I'M LOST AND I'M TIRED
WHEN A WHISPER IN MY EAR INSATIABLE BREATHES
"WHY DON'T YOU FOLLOW ME INSIDE?... "
yeah THE ROOM IS SMALL, THE ROOM IS BRIGHT
HER HAIR IS BLACK, THE BED IS WHITE
AND THE NIGHT IS ALWAYS YOUNG
IS ALWAYS YOUNG... ALWAYS YOUNG
THE NIGHT IS ALWAYS YOUNG...
yeah I'VE BEEN SEEING THEM STRIP TO THE BONE IN THE MIRROR ON THE WALL
SEEING HER SWALLOW HIM WHOLE LIKE IT'S NOT ME AT ALL
SHE HOLDS OUT HER HANDS AND I FOLLOW HER DOWN TO MY KNEES
AND THE SUCKING INSIDE INSATIABLE SMILES
"YOU WILL FORGET YOURSELF IN ME... "
yeah THE ROOM IS SMALL, THE ROOM IS BRIGHT
HER EYES ARE BLACK, THE BED IS WHITE
AND THE NIGHT IS ALWAYS YOUNG
AND THE NIGHT GOES ON AND ON
AND THE NIGHT IS ALWAYS YOUNG
AND THE NIGHT IS NEVER OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER...
AND THEN IT'S GONE
AND THEN IT'S GONE
yeah THEN IT'S GONE...
yeah IT'S A CRUEL MEAN COLD NEW DAY AND OUTSIDE THE SNOW IS STILL COMING DOWN
AND IN THE BLOOD RED TOKYO BED I WATCH ME COMING ROUND
SHE PULLED HIM DOWN FOR HOURS
DEEPER THAN I'VE EVER BEEN
AND AS I FALL IN THE MIRROR ON THE WALL
I'M WATCHING ME SCREAM
I'M WATCHING ME SCREAM
I'M WATCHING ME SCREAM
I'M WATCHING ME SCREAM
yeah I'VE BEEN WATCHING ME GO FOR IT MUST BE YEARS
WATCHING ME GET SLOW, I WATCH ME DISAPPEAR
AND ONE DAY, yeah I KNOW, I WON'T COME BACK AT ALL...
AND ALWAYS OVER AND OVER IN HIS ORDINARY EYES
I'M WATCHING ME FALL
I'M WATCHING ME FALL
I'M WATCHING ME FALL
I'M WATCHING ME FALL

I've always seen this song as a warning against temptation and addiction. At first, the girl (addiction/temptation) and her world (the room) is quiet, private and safe and his life (the night) is just starting. "THE ROOM IS SMALL, THE ROOM IS BRIGHT, HER HAIR IS BLACK, THE BED IS WHITE AND THE NIGHT IS ALWAYS YOUNG" In this time in his life he is invincible. Later he sees himself from the outside and he's watching his former self disappear. She is sucking him down into a world of addiction and this world is no longer safe. It's blood red and isolated from everything and everyone else. And his youthful resistance to all of this (the night) is gone. After falling too long in this world his former self and former life will never return to what it once was. And he sees all of this happening to him from the outside, but he is falling and he can't stop himself from succumbing to his addiction.
depressing.
I love the lyrics to this song. It makes me think of a sort of mind-entrancing-suduction. Someone is being controlled by their partner and they realize it. They are just so used to it that they don't want to try and get out of it.. because it's all they know.
It's like he's in this insanely deep relationship, but he's talking about it likes he's not. Like he's just someone eles watching what happening to him.

@KillMELater Ketamine will do that sometimes.

Sounds like prostitution to me. He keeps going back for more, but always regrets it more and more. It makes loads of sense when you read it with that in mind. Considering the albums, it wouldn't surprise me if that's in fact what it is
It either sounds like he keeps getting loaded and finding Japanese hookers, or he keeps getting loaded and having an extramarital affair with a woman (in Tokyo?)
To me is seems like he's doing something he doesn't do often, if ever, and he's nervous about it. Like, for example, having sex with a prostitute in Tokyo. Or being in a threesome in Tokyo. There's little question that sex is involved though. For some reason the ideas of prostitution and a threesome stand out to me. shrug could just be me though
One other thing...is it "sucking inside" or "saki inside"? I always thought it was saki, it would make sense being in Toyko, but I had never considered the other one
@CounterfeitSaint This reminds me of when I first listened to "La Ment" (or "Lament?" whichever it is!). I had no clue what it was about, and I found his accent (which is a sort of weird mix of different parts of England) hard to understand. I heard the word "body" as "bunny." No excuse: I was only 11, and besides, it seemed like it made some sort of sense, paired as it was with "ice cream!" (When I learned the real lyrics I had a fit of laughter. Then I started thinking about how...

in this song, Robert Smith is lost. He as at the point in his life where is getting older (also check out the song 39 off bloodflowers) for the better half of his life he has been in the spotlight, only reckognized by this image he portrays. and the frustration of drawing the boundary between Rockstar and human being is driving him insane, in an abyss of lust and excess. he finds himself with a hooker in japan, and this leads him too his breaking point questioning his life. he looks in the mirror and it reflects a lost soul, and he sees the mess he has become.
